I highly recommend Prashanty Houseboat for the perfect and peaceful Allepey Kerala backwaters experience on a beautiful houseboat. Shanti Lal is a man of his word. He was a wonderful host and went out of his way to make sure our family was comfortable. He even got us a personal house boat kathak dance experience. Prashanty houseboat is the best experience you will have in Allupey!

Our two night stay on No6 Houseboat operated by Spice Coast Cruises was the highlight of our stay in Southern India. We started just after midday on Lake Vembanad and headed south on the Kerala backwaters. Along the way, we spotted an Otter, numerous Kingfishers, Beeaters, Brahminy Kites & Egrets.The houseboat is manned by a crew of 3 led by Joshi, who took us a couple of walks to visit local villages including St Mary’s Basilica in Chambukaum. We thoroughly enjoyed the food served to us and enjoyed the experience of sampling Kerula dishes, albeit with less heat. Our room was simply furnished with air con, a mossie net and a comfy bed. the houseboats do not have an alcohol licence, so make sure you take a few supplies

India vacationz house boats - Not worth the spend

This review is about indiavacationz house boat in Kerala. we had booked 2 super deluxe rooms for 1 night through this company. Good things - rooms are decent with very basic amenities & the staff was courteous Not so Good things 1) Quality of Food deteriorated from lunch through dinner and to the breakfast next day. Breakfast had limited quantity and only 2 options; Idli and Bread, those also not very hygienic. 2) the entire boat house is on cost control mode; things are provided only if you ask, right from Hot water for bath, AC in the room, AC in the dining hall, Tissues & so on. 3) the boat only runs for 2-3 hours during the 1st day in the day time and then remains completely stationary from 5 pm till next day morning 8 am. So basically the whole experience of staying in a boat house for a day is whimsical & it is a trick that we all fall prey to. My suggestion would be to go a local boat ride (there are many boats plying passengers for 2-3 hours) and stay the rest of the time in a better resort /hotel. 4) Last minute change of pick up location by the boat house people and no proper access from the taxi dropping point to the boat boarding point. if you are traveling with infants or senior citizen parents/ family, please be aware of this. 5) The overall boat was not properly maintained; there were lizards in the dining hall, broken wood parts of the boat & so on. Overall for the amount we paid for 2 rooms and 1 night, I & my family were disappointed and felt cheated. This review is only for the reference of my fellow future travellers.

Terrible experience with Indiavacationz Houseboats at Alappuzha

Hello Readers - Would like to share experience about our stay at Indiavacationz Houseboats and believe me I can't be honest more then this. We (4 adult and 3 kids) were traveling in Inova car and carrying approx 12 items in luggage. The houseboat was having 3 rooms and 2 were provided to our family. 20th Oct -We have been asked to board the boat by 1:30 PM which we did at 1:15 PM (before time). The boat was parked 500 meter far from vehicle parking and this was 500meter walking trail next to backwater. As vehicle drop was not possible, we moved carefully without luggage and ensuring that kids are safe. As soon as we enter in the boat, slamander (bigger version of lizard) was welcoming us. Kids were scarred and we requested to change the boat. Manager (Ajoh +91-860-63-66-996) refused the accommodate the request and salamander was removed by staff in meantime. Boat was supposed to be start at 1:30 PM but we got our luggage at 2:30 PM and trip started 1 hour late. The weather was not so pleasant, and it was quite hot & humid. Our itinerary includes welcome drink, Wifi and drinking water. During 1 hour delay, they didn’t provide us the electricity , drinking water in the rooms after multiple request to staff and Manager. Water pressure in the washrooms was very low and unable to use them. After multiple requests to staff, they fixed the issue. Towels, blanket, paper tissues were not provided until we asked them (Paper tissues were not provided during the whole trip). Upper deck was dirty and staff cleaned the deck post multiple request as we had to sit due to electricity issue. Post 3 PM, we finally got the drinking water on the way as bottles were purchased by the staff and these were not arranged prior to trip. Due to the delay, there were couple of sight seeing were skipped which were listed in our itinerary (Old church, Marathan dam, R block & C block etc) . They haven’t stopped the boat on any point except 1 and kept sailing. At evening, the boat was back to starting point. Post sunset, Lizards and cockroaches/insects started coming in each room, lower & upper deck. We decided to book hotel to spend night outside the houseboat, but rain started, and we were unable to go out. Our families didn’t sleep whole night as they were scarred of insects/lizards. We complained to staff but they said “it’s Nature”. It was like “man v/s wild” for us and we were scared. We had to order the food from Zomato (Restaurant : Madras Veg table) as kitchen was messy, dirty and no hygiene was followed by staff/hotel. Also, Kitchen was common for Veg/Non-Veg. Since the staff knows that we requested to Veg only but staff was cooking nonveg on the house boat. We were escalating the issues to the manager (Ajoh +91-860-63-66-996) and staff was telling us not to reach out to managers. After reaching out to manager, staff was fixing the issues (partially). Staff was ill-mannered and rude. They were roaming in the boat shirtless and many people coming in the boat since they were facing some issue with boat engine. No privacy was provided to us. 21st Oct - At 6 AM, we were getting ready to finish this scary trip. There was 1 hour boat trip due at morning along with breakfast and checkout was due by 9 AM. We waited till 8:45 AM as boat was not ready to move due to engine issue. We kept requesting Staff, Manager (Ajoh +91-860-63-66-996) to arrange the alternate boat to complete the trip and drop us at vehicle parking but they refused to accommodate and asked to leave the boat. We escalated the issue to Senior manager (Veena : +91-994-76-71-600) and Owner (Manoj +91-702-22-61-786) but they asked to wait for boat to get fixed for another 1 hour. We couldn’t wait as our trip itinerary was planned for Trivandrum and Kovalam. Finally, we decided to leave the boat and requested staff to drop us at parking area since we can’t walk on 500 Meter trail along with kids and luggage. Staff & each of our family member picked the 1 item each on our own and left the houseboat. Our shoes, clothes and luggage were covered in mud due to last nigh rain. We escalated to Owner (Manoj +91-702-22-61-786) and asked for refund since trip was not completed. He promised to compensate by end of day but he ghosted and not picking our phones.

The boat is clean and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. The foods are delicious. Had a very good experience with backwater view. Our cheff served us with authentic food as per our request recipe. The captain shared a lot of info of the lake.
